Iowa has some of the oldest and broadest laws favoring free information and open government, but sometimes those laws arenโ€™t followed. Weโ€™ll talk with those charged with keeping the information flowing.

โ€œViolations of the law occur more through ignorance of the law than through deliberate attempts to violate the law. So I think a focus on training, a continuous focus on training โ€” because there is turnover in a lot of these government agencies and on local boards and commissions โ€” is important,โ€ said Kathleen Richardson executive director of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council.
